The project aims to address the needs of students with fewer opportunities and from underrepresented groups. In particular, the barriers faced in accessing high-quality learning environments, given the high rates of Early School Leaving (ESL) amongst these communities. Consequently, the project tackles learning disadvantages, ESL and low proficiency in basic skills through the provision of an adaptive and personalised educational platform based on and tailormade to the participants’ individual needs.

These efforts complement UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP), especially the ‘Information Literacy’ for all priority axis, which aims at the appropriate use of digital technologies for the inclusion of disadvantaged communities and marginalized groups. Furthermore, the proposed project will be based and augmented by the European Commission’s new Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027) and SELFIE tool.

“AI has great potential to transform education and training for students, teachers and school staff. For example, it could help to reduce early school leaving, to compensate for learning difficulties and to support teachers with differentiated or individualised learning through language learning apps, text-to-speech generators, AI mentors for learners and more.”
